The year is 1983 in Munich, the walls are gray and bare, marked only by a few political slogans and a strange declaration of love. Then, suddenly, abstract sign languages, strange signs, and mysterious combinations of letters begin to appear, the meaning of which is a puzzle to all who come across them. The episodes begin to spread around the city and mark the beginning of the graffiti movement in Germany and throughout Europe. The photographic archives of lawyer Konrad Kittl and anthropology academic Peter Kreuzer reveal the first layer of graffiti in Munich: experiments with color and form, unprecedented and without rules and prejudices.
